Trip Overview
This well paced tour is designed to introduce you to two different cities and more - each with its own story to tell. The four night stops in Vienna and three night stops in Prague allow time in the afternoon for shopping or your own activities.
Vienna
Vienna, the capital of Austria with 2 million inhabitants, is situated on the banks of the Danube. The influx of visitors from all over the world has made Vienna the most popular urban tourist destination in Austria.
Vienna is a dream city for anyone with a romantic streak or an interest in history. Sightseeing opportunities are to be found in abundance. Wander along narrow, medieval alleyways or across imperial squares, view Schönbrunn Palace or the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), and marvel at the majestic architecture along the Ring boulevard. Be inspired by an atmosphere steeped in history -which also boasts the comforts and infrastructure of a modern city.
Christmas in Vienna
Starting at the end of November lasting till Christmas Day you can find "Christkindlmarkt " on nearly every corner of the city. Small huts provide you with potential Christmas presents, food and most important hot punch and "Glühwein", heated sweetened wine. The "Christkindlmarkt" on the square in front of the City Hall is Vienna's classic Christmas Market. Strolling among the elaborately decorated trees in the park, Viennese and visitors from all over the world can enjoy the wonderful Christmas atmosphere.
Salzburg
Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Salzburg. Salzburg's "Old Town" with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centers in the German-speaking world, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The city is noted for its Alpine setting. It is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the setting for parts of the musical and film The Sound of Music.
Christmas in Salzburg
It is the season for a romantic walk across the city's hilltops, affording a breathtaking view of the city's snow-covered roofs, domes and towers. Held in the picturesque Cathedral and the surrounding squares, the annual Salzburg Christmas Market is a great place to soak up the Christmas atmosphere and pick up a few Christmas presents from the many stalls and vendors. Items range from traditional festive foodstuffs, handmade Christmas decorations, jewellery, candles and other arts and crafts. In addition to hot food stalls and mulled wine stalls, visitors can enjoy a range of entertainment ranging from nativity plays to choral performances.
Prague
Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. Situated on the River Vltava in central Bohemia, Prague has been the political, cultural, and economic center of the Czech state for over 1000 years. Prague is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and belongs to the most visited cities on the continent. Since 1992, the historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The main sightseeing areas of Prague are separated by the Vltava River. On the left bank there is the Prague Castle area and the Lesser Town. The right bank is home to the Old Town, the Jewish Quarter, and the New Town. Spanning the Vltava River and connecting the Old Town and Lesser Town is the beautiful Charles Bridge.
Christmas in Prague
Christmas is a special time of year in Prague and the Christmas markets are a key ingredient in the Czech festive magic. The Prague Christmas markets bring visitors and locals together to share the holiday spirit in a true 'winter wonderland' setting. Prague Christmas markets run daily from 9am to 7pm throughout the festive period. The main markets are at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square.

23 December
DAY 1 – Arrive Vienna
Welcome to Vienna! On arrival at Vienna Airport there are transfers to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Maybe stroll amid the statues of the city's greatest musicians in the City Park?
24 December
DAY 2 – Vienna
Romantic Danube valley tour.
This is a full day excursion to the beautiful part of the Danube Valley – Trip also includes Melk – an unforgettable trip through the romantic Danube- valley with its vineyards and ruins, the charming town of Krems and the medieval village of Durnstien.
25 December
DAY 3 – Prague Sightseeing
Sightseeing this morning with your local guide reveals the highlights of 'Golden Prague', spreading either side of the Vltava river. Begin at the lofty heights of Prague Castle, dominated by the spires of St. Vitus' Cathedral. Walk through medieval cobbled streets, past beautiful palaces, and enjoy a spectacular view over the whole city. Now descend to the Old Town Square to see the astronomical clock. For those travelling in December, be sure to grab a sausage and some hot wine at the brightly decorated Christmas Markets! If you’re lucky, you might even see school children in traditional dress, who come to dance and sing for the crowd.
26 December
DAY 4 – Prague
Visit medieval Cesky Krumlov on the banks of the Vltava. Time here to explore the narrow cobbled streets, little back lanes and arch covered footpaths, not forgetting the outstanding castle overlooking the town, considered by many to be the country's finest. After some free time continue north to the historic Czech capital of Prague.
27 December
DAY 5 - Prague
Visit to Kutna Hora. This is a UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage site. The picturesque medieval town of Kutna Hora is situated approximately 60 km east of Prague. the sources of its beauty and riches are the silver mines that were exploited most extensively in the 14 and 15 century. During this excursion you will visit interesting sights such as the unique gothic cathedral of St Barbara, and the nearby Italian Court. Then visit the nearby Ossuary, the bone house. This is a church decorated with the bones of 40000 people who died during the 30 year war (1618 to 1648) as well as the Husite wars. The tour include entrance fees to the St Barbara Cathedral, the Italian Court and the Ossuary. In the evening we travel to Vienna.
28 December
DAY 6 - Salzburg
Departure by train to Salzburg in the morning and back in the evening. Enjoy a day in the beautiful Salzburg home to Mozart. Lovely in the Christmas season.
29 December
DAY 7 – Vienna
We will spend this day seeing Vienna on foot, enjoying the beautiful streets and visiting the shops. There are also a number of beautiful churches to see and museums.
30 December
DAY 8 – Vienna - Malta
Price: Lm362 plus taxes (app Lm35) for flights, transfers and accommodation for 7 nights on bed and breakfast basis in a double/ twin room. Including transfer from Prague to Vienna and back
